I had been to conventional treatment several times, lost loved ones and found myself without freedom in multiple ways. I needed something fresh and accepting that is rich in true modern knowledge. So I helped create, lead and grow it for others while it's strengthened my personal recovery that now instills happiness. Aaron is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in active recovery, sober since 1/3/2022. Aaron's path to recovery was a scenic one with many difficult life circumstances. With recovery as his guide, Aaron has met each challenge.
Aaron strongly believes in the value of peer support, leadership and coaching. His goal is to be a significant voice in growing the role and be the peer leader that he needed but never had access to. Aaron's coaching style is very individualistic in order to utilize the greatest asset in recovery, which is the internal strengths of clients.
Aaron coaches clients with substance use disorder for alcohol and drugs as well as mental health. Aaron is educated on bipolar, which he is diagnosed and manages medically and therapeutically. At the end of the day, Aaron is the guy who has been in your shoes and figured out how to keep life from blowing up. And then, maximizing the great life recovery promises us.
Donna is the co-founder of Recovery Unbroken and got sober in September 2022 after realizing that her mental health and drinking had become problematic. She emphasizes integrating peer support into traditional behavioral health treatment practices, offering guidance and resources for managing mental health and substance abuse challenges.
Donna has worked as a behavioral health professional since 2012 and helps individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders, mental health disorders and eating disorders. She works closely with national and local treatment centers and clients, focusing on locating accessible recovery-oriented services.
Blending digital platforms like Recovery Unbroken with established behavioral health practices addresses challenges individuals face in sobriety and recovery.
Donna and Aaron have worked tirelessly since August 2023 to build Recovery Unbroken into a community where individuals recovering from alcohol use disorder and disordered drinking come together to support, encourage and learn from each other every day.
Although Donna and Aaron currently live a thousand miles apart, her in New Jersey and him in Minnesota, they have been dating since October 2023.
Not only have they both navigated their first few years of sobriety individually, they now get to work together to strengthen themselves and each other. Sober dating, sober intimacy and sober travel are all firsts that they got to experience together and discuss often with those in early recovery.
Donna and Aaron’s story is unlike any other with many twists and turns but most importantly has a foundation built in sobriety, strength, love, and community.
