Today I am grateful.

I am grateful that I joined an amazing community full of hope. I have been a struggling alcoholic for over 30 years. I have tried to quit multiple times, gone through multiple rehabs and in and out of AA for years. I never seemed to find what I was looking for in any of those places. Addiction is such an incredibly cruel beast. It stripes everything from you. Your humility, your humanity, your sense of self, your sense of awareness, your strength, your hope for your future. I was riddled with anxiety, failure, and terror.

I happened to be scrolling through TikTok one day while I was drunk off my ass and came across this woman named Donna. She spoke about this community called Recovery Unbroken. I remember staying up far into the night watching video after video of her speaking about finding a different way of life. I started searching Sober TikTok's like a crazy person and the next day I woke up so hung over I could barely move, but I got right back on TikTok and started watching videos again. I didn't pick up a drink that day. Nor the next few days. I reached out to Recovery Unbroken and joined their group. It has been a godsend for me, my husband and my family members and friends who care about me. This community has given me a whole new perspective on sobriety. I have learned so much just listening to the people in this group and leaning on them and letting them support me and cheer me on. We do that for each other in this group and it is so inspiring. As I write this, I am going on three months sober and I am never looking back. Recovery Unbroken has taught me to move forward and that there is another way through community, kindness, and strength.

To Donna and Aaron who run this program I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would still be deep in my cups if it weren't for you both. To anyone reading this, if you are struggling, there is a way to not suffer anymore. For the anxiety and the shame to disappear.

Recovery Unbroken is healing me one day at a time.

A Diverse and Accepting Support Community

I have so much love for this amazing group of individuals. RU has not only been there to pick me up during the most difficult points in my recovery, but also to celebrate each other’s wins, share and learn from each other, and to allow me to support others in their time of need. In my experience, this group has led with acceptance and empathy, welcoming new members with encouragement and open arms. So what RU waiting for?

When I decided to get sober I did it on my own.

I was successful at my first attempt, but there was something missing. After 15 months sober I joined RECOVERY UNBROKEN. That is when I realized I was not living my best life. Having a group of like minded people who understand the day to day obstacles is so helpful. I’ve never met them in person but I feel like I know them. I’m forever grateful for Aaron, Donna and Cathy giving us all a safe place to thrive.

invaluable safe space

The community in Recovery Unbroken has proven to be an invaluable safe space for me. I always know that whether I’m celebrating or in despair that I can hop on Discord and/or a Zoom and receive incredible support. I absolutely would not have been able to maintain my sobriety without this amazing community!

invaluable resource for  recovery

The Recovery Unbroken community, whether in weekly zoom meetings or on our virtual chat group, is an invaluable resource for my recovery journey. The peer stories, both struggles and triumphs, help me understand that I’m not alone.
